I've heard it said that, "Old Rock Hounds never die, they just slowly petrify."
Every now and then we are fortunate enough to discover something new and so interesting that it actually takes our breath away. Well, I can tell you that while vacationing with CampingK, GreenThumb9 and I had a chance to reconnect with Mother Earth when we took a more serious look at rocks and rock collecting!
I have always picked up cool looking rocks because of their colours, markings & shapes and added them to my "collection", but this was a whole new experience!!! While on vacation, we had the pleasure of meeting a geologist named Julia - a wealth off knowledge, and a very sweet soul! Once we collected several different and interesting rock specimens we would get together with her, and she would graciously reveal to us the unique mineral combinations, structural components, and important identifying qualities contained within them. From now on . . . we will never, EVER view a rock cut the same!
So . . . needless to say, this wonderful experience inspired us to set up a geocache for cachers who might also be novice rockhounds like us. Hopefully you enjoy this area as much as we did!
We were also excited to help a couple of muggles (James & Eli) set up their own geocaching accounts! Happy Caching guys!!!
The cache is a small cylindrical container covered in black hockey tape, and able to hold small swag and trackables. Please replace exactly as you found it. Permission has been obtained to place this geocache.
This cache might be difficult to find during the winter, therefore it has a "not winter friendly" attribute.
