I have long wanted to add more caches to the Columbia Railtrail. This one takes you to one of my favorite places along the trail, where you get a good view along a old growth section of river (so much of it used to be farmland, but this elevated section has really old oaks and beech trees. This is also the first in a coming series of "Life’s a beech" caches, to alert people to areas where these majestic trees grow. Beech bark disease is a growing problem for these trees, but for now we are still lucky to have many of these stands intact in our area. Oh, and there is a little bit of a riverine "beach" near the cache as well. If the weather is hot, cool off in the stream!
