Geocache Description:

This is an extremly quiet but public road, traffic is rare but there is parking 50 metres south of the cache in the forest entrance.

Recently replaced stone bridge over tributory of Woodford river. Rainwaters coming off Sliabh Aughty can swell this small river in winter and occasionally cause significant damage, hence the rebuild in 2018 of the orignal ancient hand built bridge.

If you continue on this road (Sarsfields Way) in a southerly direction you will be re-tracing Sarsfield's army route escaping from the battle of Aughrim (1691) where the Jacobites and Williamites fought the last significant conventional battle on Irish soil. When you reach the abrubt 90 degree left hand turn look out immediately across the commonage and you can still see the original "escape" route which eventually led to Limerick and the "Siege"
