While out geocaching I remembered this road from years ago. This is the Original Highway 97 before they moved it sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. We use to drive down this road on our way hunting and the pavement was still intact. Down towards Bend more it was used for a late night dragstrip by some of the loacals so sometime in the late 60's or early 70's they came in and ripped up all the pavement so you couldn't drive on it then sometime later they came in and cleaned it up so it could be used again for a fire road. If you look close on the side of the road you can still pick up a piece of history in the form of a chunk of the old highway.
I had room for a few more cache's in this series so #12-18 will finish off this series. These last containers are mostly different from the rest of the series. This road is seldomly used and the caches are all fairly close to the road so parking in the roadway should be ok. This is the 15th one in the series and is on the West side of the road and is a log only cache and don't forget to bring a writing stick to sign the log. Please replace it as found and have a great caching day.
Note: To assure this cache Series remains active and available for all who seek these caches, this cache (and the others in this series) are maintained by the cache owner (geo51). Cachers are encouraged to communicate any caches requiring attention by placing a Needs Maintenance note on this cache page.
P.S. If you are a premium member don't forget to grab the gaget caches by RedRum13 if you haven't already.
