DE: Die Stadt Grado (aus dem Lateinischen ad gradus, „an der Stufe“, also einem Kanal, der nach Aquileia führte; Furlanisch Grau, Gradesisch Gravo, Slowenisch Gradež) mit 8080 Einwohnern (Stand 31. Dezember 2018) liegt an der Nordküste der Adria auf einer Küstendüne am äußersten Ende des Golfs von Venedig. Die Insel von Grado wird auch Sonneninsel oder Goldinsel genannt.
