This area, now known as Harwan Park, was once the site of the Blackwood Theater which began operation as early as 1924. It was once owned by the Harwan family, who also owned another theater in Mount Ephraim.
In 1979, the original marquee was torn down and the theater was renamed The Movies. I remember seeing only one movie there, Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I, in 1981. The theater was torn down in 1991.
