Placing this one on Pennsylvania's 2014 Trail of the Year, the Redbank Valley Trails (open dawn to dusk) to remember the community celebration event I was chosen to host to honor geocaching turning 20 years old in May of 2020. (GC8HKC1 - Tidal Commuity Celebration Event, 8/22/20, noon - 4 pm at nearby Madison Twp Park, Armstrong County) A special icon and a virtual souvenir will be awarded for attending that event.
Near MP 14.8 (towards the St Charles parking area), you will see an old brick factory along Redbank Creek. You can still see some of the beehive ovens (kilns) that were used to fire the bricks. The factory opened in the late 1800s and operated until 2013.
At MP 14.9 the trail crosses Leatherwood Creek and you can find a couple Benchmarks in the old bridge foundation. Benchmark Disk C-93 (KX0953) is in the top of a wing wall and a copper bolt with BM16 (KX0954) chisled in stone can also be found on the old bridge foundation.
At MP15, a tornado came through in 1860 and wiped out many barns and houses and killed several people. The cache is not far from the 15 MP marker.
