Although this trail has no formal name as far as I can tell (I have dubbed it "Carson-Showers Ridge Trail"), it is one of the most spectacular in the region. It starts at the top of the Pacific Crest Trail above Carson Pass (see geocache Pacific Crest Trail: Top of Carson Pass), then traverses the ridge line all the way to Showers Lake (see geocache Showers Lake). Along the way it offers almost uninterrupted heart-stopping views, both of the Carson Pass / Round Top skyline, and also of the Upper Truckee Meadow, including Meiss Lake, Round Lake and even Four Lakes.
This particular cache is located approximately 60 meters (200 feet) off the trail, near the top of a peak with a gorgeous 360-degree view. See photo below. Enjoy!
