MILITARY SERIES – After spending 20 years in the military and retiring in 2000 as a First Sergeant from the Wisconsin Army Reserve National Guard, I decided to create this series and dedicate it to all of the men and women that served before me, with me, after me, serve today and those who will serve in future generations.
Each of the caches in this series is named after a unit, position, rank or other significant event during my military career.
While some of these may be an easy find, others may require some creative and critical thinking. Look at the rating for each cache as they will vary within the series.
Military Police Platoon, 32nd Sep Inf Bde, 2/127 Infantry – Appleton, Wisconsin: After three years of active duty, I joined the Wisconsin Army Reserve National Guard. My initial duty assignment was with a Military Police Platoon within the 32nd Separate Infantry Brigade but stationed with the 2/127 Infantry in Appleton, Wisconsin.
It was a strange arrangement with the MP Platoon as we had three of our squads assigned in Appleton assigned as Combat MP’s with direct battlefield support of the 32nd Sep Inf Bde. The fourth squad of our platoon was assigned in Milwaukee with HHC 32nd Sep Inf Bde where they had the role of providing TOC security in the battlefield environment.
The three squads were placed in Appleton in the early 1980’s for recruitment purposes. Less than two years after joining the platoon as a Specialist E-4, I would return as the Platoon Leader (2LT) and move the three squads to Milwaukee.
Congratulations to kalkranz on the FTF on this Cache Ba$hless weekend!
