No.1) Sappers Corner

 

 

 

Sappers Corner - the entrance to Greatham Village and a landmark for people entering and leaving Hartlepool it was built by Tommy Blumer who started Blumer’s Bus Service

Blumer's Bus Service, Sappers Corner, Hartlepool Started in 1920 by Tommy Blumer. Tommy was a Sapper during the war and named his company premises Sappers Corner in memory of the colleagues he had lost during the war. The name still sticks today even though it is now named up north combine.

There isn’t a memorial here for Tommy Blumer or Blumer’s Bus Services so as you are looking for the clues to the Co-ordinates below try and imagine the building back in its glory days.

1st Stage

The clues are based on what you can see now in the present day and not from the historic photographs. All clues are within a short walking distance from here.

 

Final Cache Coordinates = N 54°38.ABC, W -01° 14.DEF

A = Number of doors on the front of the Sappers Corner Building x2 + number of vertical pillars.

B = Number of doors on the front.

C = Second Number of the speed limit as you LEAVE the village.

D = Last number of the National cycling route that passes through the village.

E = First Number of the speed limit as you LEAVE the village.

F = Last number of the “A” road that leads to Hartlepool and the rest of Teesside.

Numbers should add up to: 26
