MILITARY SERIES – After spending 20 years in the military and retiring in 2000 as a First Sergeant from the Wisconsin Army Reserve National Guard, I decided to create this series and dedicate it to all of the men and women that served before me, with me, after me, serve today and those who will serve in future generations.
Each of the caches in this series is named after a unit, position, rank or other significant event during my military career.
While some of these may be an easy find, others may require some creative and critical thinking. Look at the rating for each cache as they will vary within the series.
Military Police Platoon, 32nd Sep Inf Bde – Milwaukee, Wisconsin: This was my second time being assigned to the same MP Platoon. The difference this time is that I was now in-charge of the platoon as the Platoon Leader or 2nd Lieutenant. My first assignment on my first drill weekend was to move the three squads of the platoon that were assigned in Appleton to Milwaukee where the other squad was assigned.
Within my first 18 months as the Platoon Leader, I resigned my commission going back to the enlisted side as a Squad Leader / Staff Sergeant/E-6. I resigned my commission due to a potential work conflict with my civilian job as retaining my rank and advancing as an officer would have required attending a four-month Officer Basic Course. My civilian employer at the time was not supportive of the military and I had to prioritize my civilian job and career as a Police Office vs my military career which was more of a hobby.
As a Squad Leader, I was put into a role in which I served as the Training NCO for the platoon doing about 75-80% of both the Platoon Sergeants and Platoon Leaders jobs.
Congratulations to Lobsters9494 on the FTF on this Cache Ba$hless weekend!
