Něco o historii
Zámek Hluboká byl původně založen jako strážný hrad v polovině 13. století českými králi a jako královský majetek byl dáván často do zástavy. V držení se zde vystřídalo několik šlechtických rodů. Mezi významné patřili např. Pernštejnové, kteří založili v roce 1490 nedaleký rybník Bezdrev, rozlohou druhý největší v Čechách. Významný šlechtický rod pánů z Hradce zakoupil hlubocké panství v roce 1561. O dva roky později nechali noví majitelé původní gotický hrad stavebně upravit na renesanční zámek. Koncem 16. stol. byl dalším majitelem panství rod Malovců z Malovic, jako protestanti však přišli o majetek v roce 1619 a o čtyři roky později jako náhradu za válečné pohledávky získal panství od císaře Ferdinanda II. Habsburka španělský generál Don Baltazar de Marradas. Od jeho synovce v roce 1661 koupil Hlubokou Jan Adolf I. Schwarzenberg.
Schwarzenbergové pobývali na Hluboké do konce roku 1939, kdy poslední majitel Dr. Adolf emigroval před nacisty do zámoří. O svůj majetek definitivně přišli zvláštním zákonem Lex Schwarzenberg v roce 1947. Díky velice dobře spravovanému majetku a rozsáhlým hospodářským aktivitám Schwarzenbergové hlubocký zámek dvakrát stavebně upravili, nejprve počátkem 18. století v barokním stylu, později provedli rozsáhlou rekonstrukci zámku v romantickém stylu nové gotiky v letech 1840 – 1871 včetně úpravy parku a okolní krajiny. Byl přestavěn pod vlivem cest tehdejšího majitele, knížete Jana Adolfa II. ze Schwarzenbergu a jeho manželky kněžny Eleonory, roz. princezny Liechtenstein, do Anglie. Hlavní předlohou projektu byl královský zámek Windsor. Přestavba byla započata podle plánů vídeňského architekta Franze Beera, po jeho smrti pokračoval hlavně v projektování honosných interiérů schwarzenberský stavitel Damasius Deworetzky.

Something about history
Originally a royal castle on a promontory above the Vltava River, after many changes in 1661 became the property of the Schwarzenberg family. The current appearance of the chateau complex, including the park and the surrounding landscape, was inspired by the trips of Prince Jan Adolf II. Schwarzenberg to Great Britain, who as a representative of an important and wealthy family participated the coronation of Queen Victoria in 1838. As an honorary diplomat of the Habsburg monarchy, he traveled to the coronation with his wife, Princess Eleonora, who greatly influenced castle appearance. Hluboká soon became the seat of the Schwarzenberg family.
The chateau itself was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the first third of the 18th century and maintained its appearance until the romantic reconstruction in the mid-19th century. The inspiration for the reconstruction of the chateau was mainly the royal castle Windsdor.
In 1947 the chateau was nationalized pursuant to a special law (Lex Schwarzenberg). At present, Hluboká Chateau is administered by the National Monument Institute.
The walls and ceilings of the interiors are richly decorated with woodcarvings and noble wood. Some rooms are decorated with paintings by 16th-18th century European masters, chandeliers, stained glass and pottery from Delft. The portraits on the walls depict the most important members of the Schwarzenberg family. Private rooms of the last owners of Hluboká, Prince Adolf and his wife Hilda are also accessible. In the basement of the chateau there is a chateau kitchen with a personal and dining elevator from the beginning of the 20th century.
