Geocache Description:

The 13th of a series of caches planned to be hidden at or near the historic rural schoolhouses of Routt County (RCSH - Routt County School Houses).  See the first cache of this series (GC6QQ71) for a complete and updated list of the ones currently available - but this list will continue to grow as there were 96 schools which served Routt County neighborhoods from 1883 until 1960 when the rural districts consolidated.

Windy Point School was District #24, established in 1922 from parts of the Mount Harris, Twentymile and Pleasant View Districts. It was originally known by Grass Creek, but within 3 years was known as Windy Point.  The school was built on a high and often windy point near this intersection.  The district began transporting students to Hayden in 1938, but still was an exisiting district in 1960 when the schools consolidated.
