Lockhart is a town in Union County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 488 at the 2010 United States Census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), of which, 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (39.13%) is water.
Lockhart is located in Union County. There are two stories about how this community got its name. One is that it was named for James Lockhart, a miller who established the first gristmill in the area. An older tradition says that antlers of two deer were found locked together, the animals evidently having perished in a fight.
