This cache is to raise awareness of one of the most under-appreciated colors of the rainbow. The argument has already been made to me that it should be orange but since I’m not the hugest fan of orange, I’m sorry to say, it is not orange. In case you didn’t see it coming… it’s INDIGO!
Besides being a pretty color, indigo kind of has its own complex little personality. For starters, is it blue? Is it purple?
While it is commonly thought of as a shade of purple, indigo is technically a deep and rich shade of blue, kind of like a midnight blue, but being a combination of blue and violet it holds attributes of both colors. The color of blueberries is a good example. But there is so much more to indigo than just being a visual color.

Spiritually - The color indigo is the color of intuition and perception; a blend of blue and purple, symbolizing spirituality, wisdom, devotion, dignity and creativity. It promotes deep concentration during times of introspection and meditation, helping you achieve deeper levels of consciousness. It relies on intuition rather than gut feeling. Indigo is the color of the sixth Chakra – the “third eye” – a very mystical and magical color that represents wisdom. Located in the center of your forehead between your eyebrows, our third eye is said to be the gate that leads to the inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness that connects us to our unconscious self and gives us the experience of being part of the whole universe.
Astrology – Indigo adults are said to be sensitive, intuitive, lively, loving, intelligent, and curious. Service to humanity is one of the strengths of the color indigo, reflecting great devotion, wisdom and justice along with fairness and impartiality, as well as being a defender of people's rights to the end. As such, Indigo adults are often driven to make a positive change in the world. Indigo children are described as highly accomplished, deeply spiritual, and gifted with psychic abilities.
Religion – The symbolic meaning of the color indigo is power, importance and wealth. Indigo with the color blue has a Biblical meaning symbolizing heavenly grace. The Virgin Mary is often depicted wearing indigo or blue clothing.
Science & Psychology – Colors and emotions are closely linked. Warm colors can evoke different emotions than cool colors and bright colors can create different feelings than muted colors. Artists and interior designers have long believed that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings and emotions. Blues in general are said to create a soothing and zen-like atmosphere, however going to dark can actually evoke feelings of sadness (so stay away from indigo as your primary home decorating color scheme, is my take-away). Indigo has also been linked to creativity by stimulating right brain activity and helping with spatial skills.
Personality – Your feelings about color are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experience or culture. If your favorite color is indigo, it is said that you are honest, compassionate and understanding. Integrity is extremely important to you, as is justice, and you exhibit impartial and fair tendencies. You are conscientious and reliable but may not trust easily. You are creative, introspective, perhaps fanatical and obsessive at times, maybe make a mountain out of a molehill on occasion, and may find yourself in the clouds one minute and down in the dumps in the next. You need structure in your life – organization is important to you and you can be quite inflexible when it comes to order in your life. Addiction of some sort may also be a problem for you (like geocaching??). Your deepest need is to feel harmony and at one with the universe and to be accepted by others as the aware and intuitive spiritual being that you are.

Put on your hiking boots and get ready for roughly 0.8 miles from suggested parking, each way. The cache IS at posted coordinates and you will only need to go off-trail for the last 100-ish feet. The container is on the smaller side of Regular but definitely larger than a Small. Semi-crisp $1 bill for the FTF!
