The Shamrock Geo Art series
A series of 56 traditional caches. Can be done on foot, on bike or by car, but note that the total distance between caches is around 176 kilometres! There are shops for refreshments in Ballymoe, Williamstown, Dunmore and Ballyhaunis.
These caches are all near roads, often with a place you can stop briefly, although where the lanes are are quite narrow you'll have to risk blocking traffic while you jump out and grab the cache!
They are all 35mm film cannisters covered in black tape and hanging by a green wire. Inside, the log book is inside a small sample pot, and YOU WILL NEED TWEEZERS to get it out!
Each cache description has a spoiler photo and a hint. I've tried to take the photo so you can actually see the cache container.
There's no need to find the caches in sequence - when I hid them I did the three leaves of the shamrock first and then the stalk. That's mainly because I was on my bike but drove first and parked in a town where I could start and finish. Dunmore is best for parking for the first run.
CAUTION: This cache is on a fast and busy road. You cannot park next to the cache. I would recommend parking on one of the roads at the southern end and walking back, or dropping someone off to retrieve the cache while you drive around and come back to pick them up.
Good luck!
