Fort McAllister Historic Park is located on the banks of the Ogeechee River, this scenic park showcases the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy. Nestled among giant live oaks, Spanish moss and salt marsh, this park is a beautiful location for camping, fishing, boating and picnicking. It is also part of Georgia’s Colonial Coast Birding Trail so bring a picnic, experience the park’s history, and see the wildlife on the nearby nature trail.

This cache is located along the Redbird Creek Trail. The trail is a loop trail that begins near the parking lot for the day use area of the park. The trail is flat but there are some roots to negotiate typical of a wooded trail. It is clearly marked and easy to follow. The cache is located near the trail and there is no need to bush whack. Please stay on the trail until you are near the cache. Please be respectful of the animal and plant life and be sure to Leave No Trace behind except for your footsteps and take nothing but memories and perhaps some swag from the container.
