Holy Trinity Church celebrated it's 200th anniversary in 2019. In 1819, Huddersfield was expanding rapidly and it's only church was too small so Holy Trinity was built by Benjamin Haigh Allen. It cost £12,000 and was designed by Thomas Taylor and built by Joseph Kaye, a local builder.
Holy Trinity was built to accommodate 1500 people in tall box-pews. In Victorian England, some people were buried underneath the church in the crypt, but it was either unpopular or unfasionable as it quickly died out. The church is a grade 2 listed building.
