Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates but the information to find the cache is. After arriving at GZ, you will do a little scavenger hunt through all the Love Locks to find the coordinates for the final cache location.

But first...a little history….

(Research below was gathered from Danielle Kirk on contiki.com)

We’ve all seen bridges around the world bedecked in shiny locks with engraved initials or messages to lovers, best friends or family. People would snap a lock on a bridge and then throw the key into the river to symbolize their lasting love that cannot ever be unlocked. Paris, the City of Love, was one of the first places where people would put love locks on bridges. The most famous love lock bridge, the Pont des Arts in Paris, was one of the first places that took a stand against the thousands of padlocks along the bridge back in 2015 by removing every single one and any that came after. Why? Because they’re actually dangerous. Adding all those metal locks to a bridge that was built to hold and carry a certain weight creates structural damage and even the risk of the bridge collapsing into the river. Over time, the historic bridge started having problems. 7,500 kilos of locks were being added every year; a weight that led to one side of the fence actually falling off.

There are some cities, like Newport, who are doing their best to offer people the best of both worlds. They offer monuments or rails nearby in a safe location for people to share their symbol of unbreakable love. Moscow in Russia, for example, has installed metal trees for people to hang their locks from, resulting in super cute pieces of street art with meaning.

I remember when there were locks on this very bridge. In fact, there was a geocache lock here amidst all the love locks that I actually found and it was so much fun!! They have all since been removed and Newport has erected this section of fencing if you’d like to add your own love lock.

Now to the Final Cache. It is located at  N 39° 0A.0BC  W 084° 29.DEF.  Use the clues below to find the locks with the information for the final cache.  I've tried to make it a little simpler as there are many more locks since I first picked locks with clues.  If you look at the whole area, there are panels that can be divided into 5 sections.  I counted each section 1-5 from left to right.

♥ This is a black Master lock that can be found in Section 1. On the front of the lock it has “Chris + Abby.”  On the back is a date... A = the day minus 1.

♥ This is a blue lock that can be found in Section 1. On the front it has “Dana & Debbie.” B = add together both of the numbers found in the phrase “tobe_______.”

♥ This is a pink double overlapping heart lock that can be found in Section 2. On the front it reads, “Mark & Athena Together 4ever” along with 3 dates.  Two of the dates have the same year.  C = the 2 digits of that year added together.

♥ This lock can be found in section 3 and is shaped like one of the creatures that is swimming below you.  On the front it has a number with the initials BW & LN. Multiply the numbers together and then add 3 to get D.

♥ This lock is painted with a light blue background and has a Heart Hot Air Balloon with white clouds that can be found in Section 4. On the back is a date, F = the month.

♥ This is a big white heart lock that has gotten a little rusty over the years.  It has a 3-digit number and rusty letters of "AW + RP” that you can hardly make out anymore in Section 5. No worries…it’s one of the biggest locks in this section.   E = add EACH digit together, then add 1.

The final is a short walk away on the Ohio side.

Please hide the cache exactly like you found it for the next to enjoy and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use Caution and Stealth when retrieving and replacing the cache...keep your 👀 out for muggles as this is a very high traffic area. ♥♥♥ If you have a love lock somewhere, please mention it in your log and where it is located. Happy Hunting!!

Congratulations to Sharonw6FrontierWomn for FTF!!!
