I grew up in this neighborhood many years ago. Back then the Bethesda Trolley Trail didn't exist. Instead, there was this short stretch of pathway that everyone called The Old Car Path. It stretched from just north of here at Beech Ave to Charles St, two blocks south. It was used extensively by kids riding their bikes, and kids walking to school at Alta Vista Elementary (now called Bethesda Country Day School). There were a few creeks and ponds just off the path where we would play and catch tadpoles. I have fond memories of this area.
I thought there would be any number of spots to hide this cache, but I was mistaken. The nearby "new" houses next to the path were not there "way back when". I was about to give up when I spotted this little clearing next to the path. It should offer a bit of cover from all of the walkers and cyclists. That being said, this is still not an ideal area for a long search, so if you need it, the hint should be a big help. Enjoy!
