Geocache Description:

Welcome to DC's transportation history!

There is nothing to find at the posted coordinates, except a Metro station closest to the final cache (and the African American Civil War Memorial - unrelated, but worth a visit). In order to get the final coordinates for this bonus cache, you must first complete the DC Transportation History Adventure Lab. If you haven't done one of these before, get the app first at https://labs.geocaching.com. Please note that in order to complete the lab caches, you'll need a smartphone with data service and the Adventure Lab app installed.

This Adventure Lab will take you to five interesting locations related to the history of transportation in Washington, DC. The lab caches can be done in any order, but if you want to find the bonus, plan to finish at the 14th and Boundary Streets Car Barn lab cache, as it is very close to the final bonus coords. You may choose your favorite mode of transportation - I recommend by bike (as I placed the lab caches), but public transportation, scooters, walking, and driving are also possible (parking and traffic can of course be nightmarish in DC).

Each stage has a brief description of the history for each stage, but for further reading please check out the "Further Reading" links below.

Enjoy your journey through DC's transportation history!

Here's how to get the final coordinates:

After you find each lab cache, you will find (in the "journal entry" section) a number followed by a code word(s). For example, you will see "1=Lab Cache". The numbers range from 1 to 5 and indicate the order in which you need to enter the code words into Certitudes. Once you have all five, put them in order (1 to 5), remove the numbers and all spaces between the code words, and enter the result into certitudes.

For example, if you have the following code words:
1=Lab Cache
2=MARC
3=National Airport
4=Union Station
5=Metrobus

You would enter the following into the certitudes checker:
LabCacheMARCNationalAirportUnionStationMetrobus
(it is not case sensitive, but be sure to remove the spaces, = signs, and leading numbers (i.e.1-5; leave in any number that is part of the codeword).

Get the final coordinates at certitude.
