Welcome

Welcome to the Beacon Food Forest.  This is the site of the largest food forest on public land in the United States.  The idea started in 2009 and the project broke ground in 2012 with its first tree.

A food forest is a diverse planting of edible plants that attempts to mimic the ecosystems and patterns found in nature.

Important note:  The majority of the site is open harvest (around 90%) -- that means you can freely and ethically harvest food and medicinces from the land without payment or tracking.  Please avoid picking in areas that contain signs stating not to pick.  Also, please make sure to harvest!  There is much to share and go around.
