Klenkes means "pinkie". Erecting the little finger (not the middle one) of the right hand is the traditional token of the people from Aachen, the Öcher. It reminds us of the industry of needle production which had been widespread in the region for a long time. Defective needles were sorted out from the assembly line by a typical motion of that finger. This part of the production process was called "ausklinken" - hence the word of the local dialect for that part of the body. Many Öcher having been doing this all their life developed a typical deformity and could thus be recognized by their crippled finger. Today, many decades after the decline of the local cloth and needle industries, you can still happen - let's say: in Katmandu - to spot two people greeting each other by holding up the right hand and showing their pinkie. Don't fear for their health, but you will instantly know where they come from.
If everything were as it has always been and you had happened to pass by N 50 33.356 E 006 13.053 on Saturday, 5th of September 2020, you would have found some Öcher geocachers having a good time together and celebrating themselves and their hobby by an event - the Klenkes - held yearly and having also become traditional - as it has to publish some caches on the day of the event. But in times of COVID-19, many things have changed. Due to the actual hygiene regime, the event had to be canceled. I'm really looking forward to next year, when - hopefully - we will meet again. Until then, keep caching in smaller parties. Therefore, here is my usual contribution to the event: Two unknown caches (see also GS#81 - Klenkes 2020: Es wär' so schön gewesen ...). -
To the cache: My inspiration was the unknown cache GC8QY7Y - Ich mach mal kurz blau. Trying to solve that puzzle, I came upon an idea that didn't work there but prompted me to think up this one. - No checker required; the correct idea will deliver an unequivocal result.
Blau oder Orange?
Als vor nicht allzu langer Zeit der Mystery GC8QY7Y - Ich mach mal kurz blau herauskam, hatte ich sogleich eine klasse Idee, wie er sich wohl lösen lassen könnte. Es war natürlich die falsche. -
Manchmal ist der letzte Schritt auf einem Holzweg schon der erste zu einer neuen Cacheidee. Wenn Ihr ähnlich gestrickt seid wie ich, müsstet Ihr ganz schnell auf die in Eilendorf unzutreffende, hier aber goldrichtige Lösung kommen.
Im Übrigen darf ich den Owner jenes für mich lange Zeit ungelösten Rätsels zitieren, denn dort wie hier gilt: "Ein Geochecker ist überflüssig, denn der richtige Ansatz ergibt ein eindeutiges Ergebnis."
