Geocache Description:

Albany is the oldest permanently settled town in Western Australia, pre-dating Perth and Fremantle by two years, when in 1826 it was colonised as a military outpost as part Australia's resistance to French ambitions.

It's for this reason that on 1 November 1914, Albany was the final departure point for the first ANZAC troops on their way to the battlefields of the First World War.

In the First Convoy 36 ships sailed from King George sound (26 from Australia and 10 from New Zealand) with 2 more ships joining at Fremantle.

In the second Convoy 17 ships sailed from King George Sound (14 from Australia and 3 from New Zealand) with 3 joining the convoy later from Fremantle and at sea.

This is a small series naming all the ships that sailed over 20,000 soldiers, 2000 sailors and 7000 horses.

A total of 58 caches, all positioned on the left side of a main road when travelling East to West with enough space to place your car completely off the road. This isn't a relatively busy road however is a common trucking route so please make sure your car is off the road.

Most of the containers are preform tubes with a few larger ones thrown in to keep it interesting. Please don't move on containers and replace as found. The space between caches is a little random due to businesses / houses / corners / unsafe places to park.
