6 years ago today, I found my first geocache while visiting my sister in Cedar Falls, Iowa. (Dry Runs GC1GT5K which is still active!) My sister was new to geocaching also and presently only geocaches when she is with me. This first cache was located overlooking a river and as we stood on the bridge, we wondered if we needed to be wading under the bridge since the coordinates had us in the middle of the bridge. We had no idea what a cache container looked like nor the common places used for geocache hides. Both my sister and I could not find it. We left and when we got back to her house, I used my computer to write to the CO explaining my lack of geocaching experience. I quickly received a very kind and informative hint. We went back and made the find, hence my geo-history began.
I am presently very close to reaching my 6K and my best year of geocache finds. So, today being a beautiful summer day, I felt it was time I hid another cache for others to find, nothing fancy about this typical hide other than it commemorates my first find while visiting the beautiful cornfields of Iowa. FYI: This cache is located in a place that I hate searching, and it is not a pine tree....crazy me, I love PT hides! You will also see the historic Pleasant Valley Bridge over the Chagrin River. There is parking nearby in the LMP: Pleasant Valley Park. Please be careful walking across the one lane bridge.
