Geocache Description:

According to the chronicler Pedro Ramírez del Águila, the temple of San Roque was the parish to which blacks and mulattos could go, since in those of the center of the city, they were not allowed.
San Roque is the patron saint of dogs and his church is pretty snazzy. It’s quite a popular church in a nice part of Sucre and they have a big market to raise money to buy stuff for the street dogs some weekends.

The church celebrated it's 400th anniversary in 2015. Traditionally, the parishioners go to the church of San Roque accompanied by their pets, which steal the spotlight of the day with their howling and games during the Mass dedicated to remembering the figure of a saint known for his love of animals, especially dogs.
