Butte:Crack
That's where we hid the cache.
This area looked incredibly inviting for a cache. It nicely overlooks the road leading to the North or South shore campgrounds or cabins. When we climbed up, we discovered this great looking... uh, crack. At the risk of being the butt of many jokes, we climbed through the crack and came out the other end. Faced with MANY great spots for an ammo can, we decided there was nothing better than a climb through a crack to search for an ammo can in a hole at the end of the crack. Yes, you can go around the butte and still find the cache, but that takes the fun out of it. Climbing through the crack is a breeze... a gas, if you will.
The name of this cache? Ice Cube #1 and I (okay, mainly myself) couldn't stop cracking puns at this spot after we found it. How could we not? I even added a colon in the cache title! Enjoy your journey!
Parking... parking can be found on the same side of the road, in a cut out North of the intersection. OR, you can park by the nearby garbage/recycling bins. The initial climb to the rock face from the road might be the hardest scramble. We came up by the telephone pole closest to the road. However way you make it, there is no trail, so be careful where you step. Younger kids can probably handle this no problem, toddlers, probably not. The original hide has some kid friendly tradeables AND there is one or two trackables for FTF and STF.
