We created this series of caches along the White Oak Rail Trail in Oak Hill, which is one of our favorite places to bike ride in the area. We love the diversity of the trail and these caches represent a diversity of cache styles, each being located in a different environment. The most fun way to do these is by bike from one end to the other (a total distance of 3 ½ miles), but there are plenty of road crossings, so none are too far to walk to.
This cache takes you to an important habitat along the trail where native species are encouraged to grow to help support monarch butterflies. Monarchs are quickly disappearing due to human activities, especially habitat destruction. Planting native species like milkweed can help create vital habitat for monarchs.
