Wakapuaka Sandflats is located at the north end of Nelson Haven, between SH6 and the Boulder Bank. It adjoins a DOC reserve to the south and another parcel of Council land to the west.
Wakapuaka Sandflats is one of the largest esplanade / foreshore reserves managed by Council and covers an old estuarine mudflat and saltmarsh wetland area.
