This area has been a "battleground" of contention between the City of Cadillac, Haring Township, Clam Lake Township and local residents for the past 8-10 years. A local developer purchased the land with the hopes of building retail and residential at this exit outside of Cadillac. The local residents fought to keep out the additional traffic. The City and Townships fought over who would provide water and sewer and who would reap the tax benefits. It has been in the Courts numerous times. The two buildings are as far as the developer got, as each potential retail business backed out due to the long delays. Someday, this cache may be muggled by the overflow of traffic in the area, but for now it is hanging out in a very lonely location.
