Not only is Hautbois filled with guiding history, there are links all over the county.

The 1st Sandringham Company was started by Queen Mary at her express wish; their first meeting was in 1920 which she attended. Princess Mary was the 2nd President of Girlguiding (1920-1965) and Girlguiding Norfolk County President (1917-1922).

Sandringham Girl Guides were visited many times by both Princess Mary and Princes Elizabeth. All of the logbooks from the 1st Sandringham company are stored at the ARC. They have autographs from both Princesses.

Sandringham Girl Guides did many good deeds and helped to win World War II by collecting waste paper as part of George VI's Salvage Campaign. They managed to undertake the collection of all the waste paper in the district. This deed helped to win the war and King George VI was informed and congratulated them on their hard work.

Sandringham company reopened in the 1970s and still functions today, and indeed are celebrating their 100th birthday!
