~ Erie Canal Paddle Series ~
This cache is part of a fun series of eight paddle caches lining a small section of the Erie Canal. Each container is different than the last to keep things fun and interesting!
WARNING: You WILL need to exit your watercraft to make this find, which may require a little wading.
BIGGER WARNING: If it begins to rain DO NOT take shelter in here as an abundance of rapidly flowing water may be coming your way very quickly. Trust me.
Accurate coordinates were sometimes hard to capture. I averaged them from three different trips out and fine-tuned them to the satellite image whenever there were identifiable objects nearby for reference, so that may help in some cases.
You can park your vehicle and launch from the Genesee Waterways Center located off Elmwood Avenue near Genesee Valley Park. If you don’t have your own watercraft, GWC has kayaks and canoes available to rent during their open hours and season, which starts Memorial Day weekend and usually runs until sometime in September (if you'll be counting on this, it may be a smart idea to give them a call ahead of time to verify availability – 585.328.3960). Their rates can be found here: https://geneseewaterways.org/kayaking.
Happy paddling!
