~ Erie Canal Paddle Series ~
This field puzzle is part of a fun series of eight paddle caches lining a small section of the Erie Canal. Each container is different than the last to keep things fun and interesting! All but one should be within reach of your watercraft and should only need to exit your boat for GC8YTX8 - Waterfall Palace, which may require a little wading.
PUZZLE: At the posted coordinates you will find a depth chart etched in the concrete wall. To find the "deep space" in which the cache (ok yea, it's a squid!) may be hiding in, simply answer the following questions:
A = The 1st digit of the top number, multiplied by 4
B = The 1st digit of the top number, multiplied by 2
C = The 2nd digit of the third number down
D = The 1st digit of the third number down, plus 3
E = The top two numbers added together (hopefully you can figure out what the crumbling number is) :)
F = Your answer to "E" multiplied by 2

Accurate coordinates were sometimes hard to capture. I averaged them from three different trips out and fine-tuned them to the satellite image whenever there were identifiable objects nearby for reference, so that may help in some cases.
You can park your vehicle and launch from the Genesee Waterways Center located off Elmwood Avenue near Genesee Valley Park. If you don’t have your own watercraft, GWC has kayaks and canoes available to rent during their open hours and season, which starts Memorial Day weekend and usually runs until sometime in September (if you'll be counting on this, it may be a smart idea to give them a call ahead of time to verify availability – 585.328.3960).
