"I'm goin' down to South Park
Gonna have myself a time"
The TV cartoon show South Park is one of those shows that most people either love or hate. Well, I've crafted a cache in our own South Park that might affect cachers the same way. This 10 stage multi will take you around the perimeter of South Park for a 12 mile walk on roads, marked trails, unmarked trails, deer trails ... anything I could find to get you on your way!
When you are near a Habitat Recovery area, please stay on designated trails. When you are near the golf course, please show some respect for the golfers and do not talk or walk when they are playing. And watch your heads! Also, one stage is within a few hundred feet of South Park School District property. DO NOT ENTER school property. All hides are on Park property.
The container at each stage is a small or medium locking plastic box. The hides should be fairly obvious - you're working hard enough to get around the park, I didn't want to make the hides difficult, too! Look for the typical downed trees and stumps. Please use care when you reseal and rehide the containers.
Because the best route is not always obvious, I have provided at each stage not only the coordinates to the next stage, but a marked map with trailheads, suggested routes, and even some of the other caches you might find along the way. If you want to discover your own route, just mark down the next coords. If you think you want a little back-up help, take a picture of the map. PLEASE, DO NOT TAKE the map from the containers!!
The Allegheny Parks Department has created an app with maps of trails in all their parks. While some of the trails you will take are not on the app, it might still make a good reference for you.
You will be sharing the trails with others on foot, on bikes, and on horses. Use your stealth powers when necessary. The park itself is closed to hunting, but parts of the park adjoin private land, especially in the southwestern portion. Use appropriate caution during hunting season. There is also evidence of illegal ATV riding on the trails in that area of the park.
