About the Memorial
On June 2, 2016, our nation was deeply impacted by the tragic in-flight accident of United States Marine Corps Captain Jeff Kuss while flying as Blue Angel #6 in practice for the Great Tennessee Airshow, in Smyrna, Tennessee. Following this tragedy, the Smyrna community and Blue Angels fans around the country mourned and showed an outpouring of support for the Kuss Family. Immediately following the tragedy, an impromptu vigil was organized by the citizens of Smyrna and held at Lee Victory Recreation Park. In the days following, citizens began reaching out suggesting a memorial be constructed in Capt. Kuss’ honor. On June 9, 2016, a committee comprised of Town of Smyrna employees, as well as longtime community members and community leaders was formed.
About the Park
Located at 110 Sam Ridley Parkway East, Lee Victory Park has numerous amenities which make it the most visited park in the Smyrna Park System. Lee Victory Recreation Park was originally named the Smyrna Recreation Park and originally leased from the Metro Nashville Airport Authority in 1978. The town, volunteers, civic groups and employees have many hours invested in developing and renovating this popular park. Development and renovations have been funded by grants, league contributions and the town since its inception.

About the cache
This cache isn't about how hard the hide or terrain is, both are fairly easy to find and get too. It's more about bringing you to this area to see the great memorial the town of Smyrna has provided. It's especially beautiful at night with all the lights on. Looking for an MKH underneath a bench. Great place on the greenway trail to take a seat and rest and reflect on all the turmoil in life and how great we really do have it here in the USA. Happy caching.
