It is a simple offset multi.

                                                                     St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church

 

 

St Margret Mary's is a Catholic church  in Edithburgh and was built is 1923.

Inspired by the Romanesque style of religious buildings in Europe.

The distinctive stone work on the outside makes the Church stand out .

Architects.[Messrs,Woods,Bgot,Jory&Laybourne-Smith,Adelaide] and the contractor was Mr O.G.Gulin a local from Edithburgh.

Prior to the construction,services were held in a hired hall .

The church was built through a legacy of 500 pounds left by late Mrs Margaret Manning and other amounts and interest in hand of 1,366 pounds 14 shillings and 11 pence.

The Roman Catholic Arch Bishop of Adelaide [Rev Robert William Spence O.P] travelled by steamer to Edithburgh to lay the foundation stone in May 1923.

Proceedings were opened by Rev Fr Mc/Namara
