Abbots Morton Village Hall

Abbots Morton village has a long history dating back nearly a 1000 years, it is named in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Mortune' and was at that time owned by Evesham Abbey. Prior to the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th Century the area was used as a country retreat for the abbots of Evesham hence the current name of the village.
The parish of Abbots Morton was part of a dispute between Evesham Abbey and the Bishops of Worcester over who had jurisdiction - the dispute lasted 200 years!
For the early part of the 20th century the village became known as Muddy Morton due to the state of some of the roads, thankfully things are much better today!
This cache is hidden close to Abbots Morton Village Hall which was rebuilt in 1998 and fulfils many different functions for the village and surrounding area including acting as a venue for wedding receptions and other celebrations. It also hosts classes and meetings ranging from children's ballet to pilates and triathlon training.
