Velkommen til vakre Aulestad. I over et kvart århundre fant Karoline og Bjørnstjerne lykke og glede ved å bygge opp sitt hjem og gjøre det til et samlingssted. I dag er det ett av Norges best bevarte kunstnerhjem. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson var samtidens store kulturpersonlighet innen det litterære, kulturelle og politiske liv. Han talte frihetens og rettferdighetens sak både i Norge og i Europa. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson skrev fortellinger, romaner, historiske skuespill og samtidsdramatikk og omlag 400 dikt som har inspirert mang en tonekunstner. Han skrev tusenvis av brev, taler og artikler. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson bodde på Aulestad fra 1875 til sin død i 1910.

Welcome to beautiful Aulestad – one of Norway’s best preserved artist homes. In literary, cultural and political sense Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was a great cultural personality of his time. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson wrote stories, novels, historical plays and contemporary drama and approximately 400 poems that have inspired many musicians. He wrote thousands of letters, speeches and articles. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson lived at Aulestad from 1875 until his death in 1910.
