Welcome to Jones Creek Ranch Park! Thanks to Geocaching, I discovered this lovely little gem and have had the fortune of earning two FTFs here. So, I decided to repay the favor and hide one of my own.
Jones Creek Ranch Park is a beautiful 112-acre ranch, complete with pavilions, outdoor amphitheater, bunkhouses, and a lodge. In addition to playgrounds, facilities are also available for softball, basketball, volleyball, and fishing. The park is open to the public for use and rentals. It is staffed by the YMCA which also runs programs in the park. At the time of this cache publishing, social distancing protocol is being followed in this park.
Park Hours vary by season:
November to March: 7am to 6pm
March to November: 7am to 8pm
Jones Creek Ranch Park was formerly known as Gordon Ranch and was purchased by Fort Bend County Green in 2012 from the former owner - Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center.
I only put two and two together on this history when I posted pics of my latest outing on Facebook and one of my friends asked, "Is that the old Jewish Community Center?" Who knew?!
Funny story and I, by no means, mean any disrespect to my Jewish brothers and sisters. When I was little, my best friend and her family invited me to go swim at the Jewish Community Center in Houston (same owners as Gordon Park!). My friend told me there was only one condition/rule for going: Never to mention the name "Jesus"! :D
