As part of ongoing research and events regarding the history of the Llano del Rio Co-Operative Colony, a collection of family photographs and ephemera was discovered in 2017. Artist Karyl Newman gathered the albums, determined their owner and attempted their return. Scans of many of the contents are part of an online project located at https://bit.ly/alluvialalbums as part of Maiden LA 2020, with 75 Los Angeles county-wide art happenings. As COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the annual Llano del Rio On All Day event in May, we created a limited edition of postage paid cards featuring different historical images of the nearby colony and events. Find the cache and select a postcard. Enjoy the other anonymous installations nearby. Photograph your experience and share using the hashtags on the card and #onallday2020. Collect some trash stuck in the wash. As you head north from the site on 165th Street East, make a right onto highway 138. You will pass the ruins of the Llano del Rio hotel on the left. Continue east to the Llano post office where you can mail a memory of your discovery. Visit positionalprojects.org to learn more about your postcard, Llano del Rio, past projects and collaborators.
