I've come by Fishing Gap a lot of late, and on one of my journeys I explored the blazed but unmapped trail that leads down the valley from the clearing. If you follow the coloured ties carefully, they will take you down to a stream that bubbles out of the mountains and through the valley to eventually join Cotter River.
In celebration of this less-travelled-by road and the scene of natural beauty it will lead one to, I decided to place a little multicache. Follow the blazes - pink, then blue, and finally red - and they will take you near to the location of this cache.
*Update* There is now a much more clearly marked path of orange flags leading right from Fishing Gap to the river.
In order to get the exact coordinates for the cache one will need to find two other caches, "Down to the River" (I) and (II). These will not only serve as waypoints along the sometimes hidden route into the valley, but they contain the missing coordinates, written on their inside lids.
The final location is just a little beyond the end of the blazed trail and may be moderately challenging to reach, but should not prove too difficult to the typical bushwalker. If attempting this in the warmer months, please be aware that the entire route is off-track and leads to water, so snakes may be a potential hazard.
