How do our animals get water in the winter?
Some animals will eat snow, but all of our animals have a vessel of some sort to hold water within their habitat. Some animals have indoor and outdoor sources of water, but we always ensure our animals have access to water. Water may be available from a pond, moat, pool, or a “drinker.”
Some of our water dishes are extremely flexible and tough so it is easy to pop any ice out. Some of our animals have water fountains. Many of these “drinkers” have heated pipes so they work during the winter. An animal can drink as much as they want and the “drinker” will slowly refill itself. Our Animal Care Professionals love “drinkers” because carrying water in the winter is a dangerous way to get wet and cold very fast.
Special thanks to rekal for his help in making this cache... and to Trove Chasers who provided the inspiration. We get to work with the best and thank you for making this so much fun!
