Disclaimer/Advisory: This is a COVID-Safe CCE. Please present your Vaccination Certificate upon arrival. Let's all stay safe and abide by the rules :-D.
Greetings,
At 11:56pm on the 24th August 2017, I found my very first Geocache. A work colleague at the time had mentioned this wonderful pursuit in passing and, from that moment forth, I was completely and indubitably hooked. Often, I would cache late into the evening after work as this was my best available time to do so.
2017 and 2018 saw me making 271 and 631 finds, respectively. 2019 onwards is where my Geocaching exploits tapered off drastically; in 2020 I had a slump of 216 days. That slump, however, has been broken and I am endeavouring to cache more often, or at least host more CITOs so to help clean up our playing field ;-D.
Geocaching is a hobby/lifestyle/sport/passion that I thoroughly enjoy. I especially love higher terrain caches along fire trails in bushland/forests and around cliff edges. Tree climbs are always a must. And I am that rare person for whom Earth Caches are my favourite cache type.
In deciding where to host my CCE, I settled upon an area by the Georges River. A lovely, tranquil bush setting replete with marked and unmarked trails, plentiful native flora and fauna and, of course, excellent caches; I wholeheartedly recommend caching around Simmo's Beach, Long Point, Kentlyn and south of Ruse and Airds. Also, be sure to try out the Georges River Power Trail starting just nearby to the north.
Unfortunately, the 24th August this year is a Tuesday so I have settled for Sunday 22nd August as a close-enough date to host this CCE and celebrate Geocaching as a whole, plus my four years of Geocaching.
Due to the lockdown, the date has been revised and hopefully this new listing may still go ahead.
The details are as follows:
Date: 27/02/2022
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am.
Location: Simmo's Beach Nature Reserve.
Fifth Avenue (segues into the road to SBNR carpark),
Macquarie Fields, 2564.
Bring: Yourself, Geocaching family, snacks/water, kayak and/or bathers if you want to go for a
paddle at the beach, Geocaching stories.
Advisory: This will be a COVID-SAFE CCE. Hand sanitiser will be provided and masks are recommended if physical distancing cannot be maintained. To avoid cross-handling, it is recommended to bring along your own snacks and water. The area around the listed coordinates is nicely populated with picnic tables suitably spaced out so to keep a healthy distance.
I am looking forward to seeing you all there. Please ensure all Will Attends are logged prior to the Event date so I can gauge the number of attendees.
