An old oak on Westport Road, which was estimated to be between 200 to 300 years old, died during the construction of apartments two years ago. After a suit against the developers of the apartment, the Town Board decided to contract with artist Alberto Chavez to carve the remnants of the old tree. Completed by the end of the summer, Chavez carved indigenous creatures onto the tree such as a bear, an otter, an eagle, and a snake, and also included a man and woman into the art piece. This haunting sculpture now stands on Westport Road as a warning to future developers of the irreversible damage that can occur as a result of carelessness during development.
Find this Cache at the tree and admire the creative work that was done. Just up the road, Doctor Who fanatics will enjoy seeing a replica Tardis located just off the road. The Tardis is located on private property though, so enjoy from afar!
