Ubet, Montana
Judith Basin County. East of the Little Belt Mountains, nothing survives of the former Ubet townsite, although the "U-Bet Airport" can be found nearby. Ubet was a well-known stage station along the Fort Benton-Billings stage route with a two-story hotel, saloon, blacksmith shop, and a stage barn with a stable. The name apparently came from the stage station's owner, A.R. Barrows; he supposedly liked to use the expression “you bet”. A post office opened at Ubet in 1881 (October 3) with Augustus Barrows as postmaster. It was closed in 1904 (February 29).
