Bassins est une commune suisse du canton de Vaud, située dans le district de Nyon. Le village de Bassins est situé sur les contreforts du Jura, à la limite des grandes forêts, à une altitude moyenne d’environ 800 mètres, mais le territoire de la commune monte effectivement à plus de 1400 mètres.
Le village est un site clunisien, dont le nom Bassins remonte à 1095. Il joignit le district de Nyon, dès 1798, sous le régime bernois. La population croît de 300 à 1400 habitants entre 1960 et 2021. La commune, propriétaire de la plupart des forêt de son territoire et de dix chalets d'alpage, fut l'une des plus riches du canton de Vaud jusque dans les années 1970.
Les sites les plus remarquables sont l'église Notre-Dame d'un style roman, le sentier des Toblerones qui suit la ligne des Toblerones, une ligne de fortifications de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la piscine couverte, la distillerie et l'espace Gasser (un parc naturel).
Les coordonnées originales de cette cache pointent vers une buvette ouverte en été le week-end. Si vos voyages vous emmènent "fortuitement" près d'ici, reposez-vous et prenez un verre ou une collation.
Le dernier mais non le moindre de mes endroits préférés dans la commune est une machine à lait à gauche de l'épicerie que j'utilise plusieurs fois par semaine. Et c'est là que commence cette histoire, un dimanche matin ensoleillé au début du printemps ...
Il y avait cette enveloppe directement sur la machine. Qu'est-ce que cela voulait dire? J'ai pris mon lait, je suis allé à l'église et je l'ai ouvert les mains tremblantes. Je n'en avais aucune idée.
Maintenant, je suis assis ici à mon bureau, de nombreuses nuits blanches plus tard, et je ne peux toujours rien en tirer. Je sais que c'est important. Je dois découvrir ce que cela signifie...

Bassins ist eine Schweizer Gemeinde im Kanton Waadt im Bezirk Nyon. Das Dorf Bassins liegt am Fuße des Jura, am Rande der großen Wälder, auf einer durchschnittlichen Höhe von rund 800 Metern, aber das Territorium der Stadt steigt tatsächlich auf über 1.400 Meter.
Das Dorf ist ein Cluniazenser-Ort, dessen Name Bassins aus dem Jahr 1095 stammt. Es trat 1798 unter dem Berner Regime in den Bezirk Nyon ein. Die Bevölkerung wuchs zwischen 1960 und 2021 von 300 auf 1400 Einwohner. Die Gemeinde, die die meisten Wälder ihres Territoriums und zehn alpine Chalets besaß, war bis in die 1970er Jahre eine der reichsten im Kanton Waadt.
Die bemerkenswertesten Sehenswürdigkeiten sind die Kirche Unserer Lieben Frau im romanischen Stil, der Toblerones-Fußweg, der der Toblerones-Linie folgt, einer Reihe von Befestigungsanlagen aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, das Hallenbad, die Distillerie und der Espace Gasser (ein Naturpark).
Die ursprünglichen Koordinaten dieses Caches verweisen auf eine Buvette, die im Sommer am Wochenende geöffnet ist. Wenn es Euch "per Zufall" hierhin verschlägt, ruht Euch hier aus und trinkt und/oder esst etwas.
Schliesslich ist einer meiner Lieblingsorte im Ort eine Milchmaschine links von der Epicerie, die ich mehrmals pro Woche benutze. Und hier beginnt auch diese Geschichte, eines schönen Sonntagmorgens im Frühjahr ...
Da war dieser Umschlag direkt auf der Maschine. Was sollte das bedeuten ? Ich holte meine Milch, fuhr zur Kirche und öffnete ihn mit zitternden Händen. Ich hatte keine Ahnung.
Jetzt sitze ich hier an meinem Schreibtisch, viele schlaflose Nächte später, und ich kann immer noch nichts daraus machen. Ich weiß, dass es wichtig ist. Ich muss herausfinden, was es bedeutet...

Bassins is a Swiss municipality in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Nyon. The village of Bassins is located in the foothills of the Jura, at the edge of the large forests, at an average altitude of around 800 meters, but the territory of the town actually rises to over 1,400 meters.
The village is a Cluniac site, whose name Bassins dates back to 1095. It joined the district of Nyon in 1798, under the Bernese regime. The population grew from 300 to 1400 inhabitants between 1960 and 2021. The municipality, owner of most of the forests in its territory and of ten alpine chalets, was one of the richest in the canton of Vaud until the 1970s.
The most notable sites are the Romanesque-style Church of Our Lady, the Toblerones footpath which follows the Toblerones line, a line of WWII fortifications, the indoor swimming pool, the distillery and the Espace Gasser (a natural park).
The original coordinates of this cache point to a buvette open in summer on weekends. If your travels "accidentally" take you near here, take a rest and have a drink or a snack.
Last but not least one of my favorite places in town is a milk machine to the left of the Epicerie that I use several times a week. And that's also where this story begins, on a sunny Sunday morning in early spring ...
There was this envelope right on the machine. What did it mean ? I got my milk, drove over to the church and opened it with shaky hands. I had no idea.
Now I am sitting here at my desk, many sleepless nights later, and I still can't make anything out of it. I know this is important. I have to find out what it means...
