Here is the only Black Bear in Waterville Valley that is safe to be near, proudly maintained by the Town of Waterville Valley. Originally, donated by a resident who was moving and had no place to keep this amazing work of art.
Remember -- our beautiful black bears are WILD animals who need to stay in their natural habitat. Do not lure them close to you with food, or leave garbage cans and dumpsters unlocked. Bring your winter bird feeders indoors in the spring. If bears do show up where they should not be, make some noise -- a spoon and a pot or some metal garbage can lids should do the trick. It is good for you and the bears to encourage them to stay in their forest home.
Bring your tweezers and a pen -- this is one of those small magnetic caches.
