What is unique about the five church within the Town of Port Hawkesbury is they were all built in the second half of the 20th century. With the construction of the Stora Pulp Mill, Nova Scotia Power generating station, and the Heavy Water Plant, a population boom occurred in the early 1960's in the Town. Reeves street was developed and many organizations and businesses began which are still around today.
