Geocache Description:

The SF2021 - Spring Fling Geocaches were placed for the 2021 Calgary Spring Fling Geocache Release to encourage cachers to hit the caching trail and either find or hide a few caches. This cache has been placed for the 2021 Calgary Spring Fling Geocache Release with the intention that it be found during the two week Geocache Release beginning at 8:00 am MST on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 through Sunday, March 28th, 2021.

The 2021 Spring Fling Geocaching Release will be a simple hunt for geocaches as we're waiting for the coming of Spring. Come on out and join us to celebrate the hopeful coming of warmer weather.

This cache is at the posted coordinates.

Background

Welcome to my series of odd and miscellaneous challenges.

Given the number of challenges already out there that want people to find a specific cache type for a certain number of days (see some examples at the bottom of this description), I thought I would come up with a similarly themed challenge.

If there was enough room in the title (there's a 50 character limit), I would have called this the 3/6/1 Types, 100/10/5 Days Challenge. Hopefully you'll understand why.

The Challenge

To qualify for this challenge, you must find 3 different cache types on 100 days each, 6 other cache types for 10 days each, and finally one last different cache type for 5 days.

So that adds up to 3+6+1 = 10 different cache types for a total of (100 * 3) + (10 * 6) + 5 = 300+60+5 = 365 days.

The Requirements

If you are still unsure about the requirements for this challenge, here's the gist.  For this challenge, find one type of cache on at least 100 different days of the year.  Then repeat that 100 day requirement for 2 other different cache types.  Be aware it does not matter if any of the days overlap with each other across any of the cache types.  Then do the same again with 6 more different cache types but just for 10 days each.  And finally, you just need to find one last cache type (the 10th different one) on just 5 days.

Here are some more details about the challenge to be aware of:

  • All cache types except adventure lab caches and benchmarks can be used for this challenge.
  • Only the day and month matter for this challenge; the year is irrelevant.
  • The days do not have to be sequential in any way.
  • Multiple finds of the same cache type on one day count only once, whether they are on the same day or across a number of years.
  • However, days with finds of multiple cache types can be used for each cache type in this challenge, regardless if they are in separate years or on the same day.  As an example, say you found 2 traditional caches and 1 mystery cache on March 14, 2015, and then on March 14, 2018, you attended an event and found another mystery cache, then the March 14 date could be used for all three cache types - traditional, mystery, and event, but only once for traditional and mystery.
  • In the past, it was possible to log the same cache multiple times.  Those caches can only be used once for this challenge, only on the first day it was found.
  • Past finds count.  Any caches that you have found and have been archived or disabled after you have found them can be used for this challenge if it meets the criteria.

The fine print

CO reserves the right to make any changes to this challenge if any issues or ambiguities are discovered.  CO will be fair but has the final say on any events, caches, finds, or logs that are questionable.  CO reserves the right to delete any logs if problems are found.

Finding This Cache

Do NOT access this cache from Highway 2. Please use the nearby service road instead.

Please remember to be respectful of the cache location. Be aware of how and where the cache is "attached" so that it can be put back in exactly the same way and in the same place for the next person(s) to enjoy. Only the "inner" portion of the cache needs to be removed to log the cache. The container may not be accessible during the winter months.

Logging This Cache

As with any challenge caches, you are welcome to physically sign the log for this cache and log it as "Write Note" if you haven't met the challenge's requirements yet. Please bring your own pen(cil)/writing instrument to sign the log.

Please use this Project-GC challenge checker below to verify if you have qualified for this challenge.

PGC Checker

You can only log a "Found It" entry online after you've completed the challenge and signed the log. All non-qualifying "Found It" logs will be deleted without notice.

Similar Challenge Caches?

Whether you qualify for this challenge or not, you may also qualify for these other challenges.

If you know of any other caches similar to this challenge or if you want to replicate this challenge in your area, please let me know and I will add those caches here so that other cachers can be aware.
