Welcome to Timm Preserve!
The 95 beautiful acres that makes up Timm Preserve was donated to the county by Jim Timm in 2002 with the condition that it is used for conservation and park purposes. There are over 3 miles of hiking trails serviced by a couple of bridges and boardwalks over the wet areas. You may still encounter some muddy spots here and there. The trails are mostly flat, with no large hills to hike up. You may see wildlife, including over 100 species of birds that have been observed there. Dogs are allowed on leashes. This is a beautiful park that doesn't get as much traffic at the other nine St. Joseph County parks, so you can really get a change to be alone and enjoy nature. There is a donation box at the trailhead if you wish to support St. Joseph County Parks.
This is an ammo can hidden in a traditional manner. It is a bit of a hike back here, if you do the whole back loop, it's about 3 miles. Coordinates were recorded using two devices averaged over about 15 minutes.
